Hickory, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs picked up a 7-4 victory in game one of Saturday's South Atlantic Conference baseball doubleheader at #18 Lenoir-Rhyne, while the Bears prevailed 9-2 in game two. Wingate moves to 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the SAC, while the Bears go to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in league play.

GAME ONE | WINGATE 7 #18 LENOIR-RHYNE 4

- Scheffler drove him in when he reached on an error to make it 3-2
- Meyer's RBI single tied it at three
- Barefoot followed with an RBI single to give Wingate the lead
- An RBI single from Evans gave the 'Dogs a 5-3 advantage
- Michael Logan connected on a solo homer in the bottom of the frame to make it a one-run game

SEVENTH INNING

- Sullivan drew a leadoff walk
- Ishmael followed with a two-run homer to give the Bulldogs a 7-4 lead

WRAPUP

- McDougall got the win, allowing three runs on seven hits in five innings, striking out seven
- Harvey earned the save, allowing a run on two hits in four innings, striking out four
- William Girardi took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings of work

- He scored on Barefoot's RBI triple to get the 'Dogs on the board
- A wild pitch allowed Barefoot to score, making the final margin 9-2

WRAPUP

- Kellen Gradisar got the win, tossing five shutout frames, allowing three hits and striking out three
- Thomas Goldberg took the loss, allowing four earned runs on eight hits in four innings, striking out five
