#5 Wingate moves to 3-0 on the year with 17-9 victory over Florida Tech

Wingate, N.C.----The fifth-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs rolled to their third straight victory to start the season, taking down Florida Tech 17-9 in NCAA Division II men's lacrosse action at Irwin Belk Stadium and Founders Field Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs move to 3-0 on the year, while the Panthers fall to 1-3.

FIRST PERIOD

- The 'Dogs scored three goals in the final two minutes to take a 5-2 advantage
- Clark scored off a Spence assist at the 1:55 mark to start the flurry
- Goss and Clark scored in the final 75 seconds, with Moran assisting on both to push the lead to three

SECOND PERIOD

- The Panthers scored the first two goals of the frame, with a Thomas Strong goal making it 5-4
- Butrico answered with a goal with 10:55 remaining to extend the lead back to two
- Strong scored a minute later to make it 6-5
- Wingate scored the final five goals of the half to take an 11-5 halftime lead
- Moran started the spurt with a goal at the 6:46 mark
- Butrico scored 40 seconds later off a Murray assist to make it 8-5
- Clark's goal off a Spence assist with four minutes left pushed the lead to four
- Spence scored with 94 seconds remaining to put the 'Dogs in double figures
- Grant's goal off a Butrico assist with 19 seconds remaining made it 11-5

THIRD PERIOD

- Wingate's sixth straight goal came from Moran 1:15 into the second half
- Andrew Walenty and Gary Lozito scored the final two goals of the frame for the Panthers
- The Bulldogs took a 12-7 lead into the final period

FOURTH PERIOD

- Moran scored the first two goals of the fourth, with Goss assisting on the second goal
- Moran's sixth goal of the day came off a Butrico assist at the 6:39 mark, making it 15-8
- Papach scored a minute later off a Clark assist to push the lead to eight
