Florence, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs dropped the opening game of the weekend 4-0 against Francis Marion, while bouncing back for a 5-3 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas on day one of the Swamp Fox Sizzler. Wingate moves to 6-8 on the season.

GAME ONE | FRANCIS MARION 4 WINGATE 1

KEY STATS

- Griffin drove home the go-ahead run when she reached on an error to make it 4-3
- Hannah Stevens was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give WU a two-run lead

WRAPUP

- Huneycutt got the win, allowing one hit in two shutout frames, striking out five
- Sarah Clancey took the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits in seven innings
