Greenwood, S.C.----The No. 2 Wingate University women's golf team will take a 10-stroke lead into Tuesday's final round following the first 36 holes of the Lady Bearcat Classic at Greenwood Country Club. The Bulldogs fired rounds of seven-over-par 295 and four-under-par 284 for a three-over-par 579 and a 10-stroke lead over host Lander.
 
NCAA Division II No. 1 Amely Bochaton holds a two-shot lead over Limestone junior Pennie Osterberg after the Wingate freshman shot rounds of one-under-par 71 and four-under-par 68. Bochaton looks for back-to-back individual victories after winning last time out at the team's home tournament, the Jerry Surratt Memorial Intercollegiate.
 
Wingate Round 1 quick hits
 
- Wingate fired a 295, tying for the round one lead with host Lander
- Bochaton's 71 included an eagle on her opening hole, the par-five first hole
- She added two birdies, placing her one stroke behind Osterberg's 70
- Senior Jess Brown battled back after a tough start, playing her final 13 holes two-under-par and bogey-free to shoot 74
- Olivia Meinecke and Lauren Sutcliffe rounded out the team score in round one with
identical 75s
- The fifth member of the WU line-up and both individuals, Noelia Adkins, Isabella Adkins and Thalia Perez-Vieco all shot 78 in round one
 
Wingate Round 2 quick hits
 
- Bulldogs pulled away from the field with a four-under-par 284 in round two
- Wingate opened a 10-shot lead over host Lander
- Bochaton had five birdies and only one blemish for her 68
- Meinecke fired a three-under-par 69(-3) with three birdies and an eagle
- Her eagle came on the par-four 13th hole, as she holed out from the fairway with her second shot
- Meinecke sits in fourth place after day one, only three shots back of second place
- Brown birdied her final hole to fire a one-over-par 73; She is tied for seventh at three-over-par
- Lauren Sutcliffe and Noelia Adkins both fired 74s, rounding out the team score at 284
- Individuals Perez-Vieco and Isabella Adkins fired 74 and 75, respectively

- The Bulldogs and Bochaton will look for back-to-back tournament victories Tuesday
- Wingate plays with Lander and Limestone in the final round, teeing off holes 1-3 at 8:30 a.m.
