Lander rallies past Wingate for 6-2 victory

Greenwood, S.C.----The Lander University Bearcats scored five runs in the seventh inning Tuesday evening en route to a 6-2 victory over Wingate University in NCAA Division II baseball action. The Bearcats improve to 13-6 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 8-10 on the season.

- Lander out-hit Wingate 6-4
- The 'Dogs had three of the five extra-base hits; the Bearcats had the lone homer
- Lander left six on base; Wingate stranded five
- The Bulldogs committed the lone error of the contest

KEY BULLDOGS

- Jake Courville was two-for-four with a double, triple, RBI and run scored

- Courville started things with a one-out single, then went to third on a wild pitch
- He scored on an RBI groundout from Sullivan to put the 'Dogs on top 2-1

SEVENTH INNING

- Two singles and an error put runners on second and third for the Bearcats
- A wild pitch allowed Connor Droze to score, tying it at two
- A Evan Wickeri RBI double gave Lander a 3-2 advantage
- Grant Sherrod followed with a three-run homer to make it 6-2

WRAPUP

- Luke Johnson got the win, tossing three shutout frames while striking out three
- Marshall Raper took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits in one-third of an inning
