Anderson, S.C.----The back-to-back SAC champion Wingate University Bulldogs opened league play by sweeping a doubleheader at Anderson University in South Atlantic Conference softball action Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs won the opener 14-5, while prevailing 8-6 in eight innings in game two to improve to 10-10 overall and 2-0 in the SAC, while the Trojans fall to 12-10 overall and 0-2 in league play.

- Burns was hit by a pitch to start the frame, then scored on Hobgood's RBI single
- Huneycutt's RBI double plated Hobgood to make it 7-2
- Brooks launched a two-run homer to left to give the Bulldogs a seven-run cushion
- Carson Hobbs connected on a two-run homer in the bottom of the frame, making it 9-4
SEVENTH INNING
- A walk, error and Kramer single loaded the bases to start the Wingate seventh
- Furr's two-run single made it 11-4
- Hobgood followed with an RBI single to stretch the lead to eight
- A McFadden sacrifice fly plated Furr to make it 13-4
- Hobgood scored on a wild pitch to give the 'Dogs a 10-run advantage
WRAPUP
- Thomas got the win, allowing four runs on four hits in six innings, striking out eight and walking one
- Hobbs took the loss, allowing 12 runs on nine hits in six innings of work
