#20 Wingate posts second shutout in program history in 22-0 victory over Mars Hill

Wingate, N.C.----The 20th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs held visiting Mars Hill University to just one shot Saturday afternoon, posting the second shutout in program history in a 22-0 victory in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action at Irwin Belk Stadium and Founders Field. Wingate improves to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the SAC, while the Lions fall to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.

FIRST QUARTER

- The 'Dogs scored five times in less than five minutes to start the game
- Millard started the scoring at the 12:37 mark
- WU scored three times in a 45-second span, with Wilgeroth assisting on all three
- Scherer had the first goal in the spurt, followed by Scarfogliero and Buckmaster
- Solero's goal off a Scarfogliero assist at the 10:39 mark made it 5-0
- Millard scored the next four, getting assists from Scarfogliero, Watson, Higgins and Blakely
- The fourth straight Millard goal in the flurry and her fifth of the frame came with 29 seconds left

SECOND QUARTER

- Buckmaster scored a minute into the second quarter to make it 10-0
- Millard scored off a Wilgeroth assist at the 7:56 mark
- Solero scored two minutes later off a Scherer assist to stretch the lead to 13
- Millard's seventh goal of the half came with 46 seconds left off a Higgins assist, making it 13-0

THIRD QUARTER

- Solero's goal off an Allen assist started the scoring five minutes into the second half
- Allen assisted on a Weber goal three minutes later to put the 'Dogs on top 15-0
- Allen set up her third straight goal at the 4:39 mark, with Blakely finding the back of the net
- Buckmaster scored with two minutes remaining to make it 17-0
- Scarfogliero scored off a Weber assist with 1:10 remaining

FOURTH QUARTER

- Scherer scored off a Scarfogliero assist in the opening minute of the final frame
- Scarfogliero's goal at the 11:35 mark made it 20-0
- Allen scored off a Wilgeroth assist with 7:53 to go
- Pavlick's first goal came off a Watson assist at the 5:08 mark, making it 22-0
