Millard leads the way as #17 Wingate rolls to ninth straight victory

Salisbury, N.C.----The 17th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs got six goals from Megan Millard Wednesday afternoon, rolling to a 21-1 victory at Catawba College in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action. The Bulldogs win their ninth straight, moving to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in the SAC, while the Indians fall to 5-6 overall and 3-4 in league play.

- Wingate out-shot Catawba 27-5, with a 24-3 edge in shots on goal
- The Bulldogs won 18 of the 25 draw controls

FIRST QUARTER

- Wilgeroth assisted on goals to Millard and Scherer in the first three minutes
- Blakely scored off a Buckmaster assist at the midway point to put the 'Dogs on top 3-0
- Scherer's goal 90 seconds later stretched the lead to four
- Solero scored at the 3:10 mark, then assisted on a Garvin goal 41 seconds later
- Watson scored off a Blakely assist 30 seconds later, making it 7-0

SECOND QUARTER

- Scarfogliero scored off an Allen assist 29 seconds into the second frame
- Weber scored 40 seconds later to give the Bulldogs a 9-0 advantage
- Weber's goal off an Allen assist at the 12:22 mark gave WU a 10-goal lead
- Millard scored off a Watson assist a minute later
- Millard added a goal with 8:12 to go off a Buckmaster assist to make it 12-0

THIRD QUARTER

- Solero's goal 90 seconds into the second half extended the lead to 13
- Benner's goal at the 11:18 mark put the 'Dogs on top 14-0
- Weber scored off a Scherer assist with 5:20 remaining to make it 15-1
- Millard scored the final two goals of the frame off assists from Allen and Buckmaster

FOUTH QUARTER

- Millard scored off another Buckmaster assist two minutes into the final frame
- Scarfogliero's goal with 9:20 to go made it 19-1
- Solero scored Wingate's 20th goal of the day at the 7:29 mark
- Benner capped the scoring with 5:18 remaining, making the final margin 21-1
