IWLCA All-Americans
Northborough, Mass.----The regular season SAC champion Wingate University Bulldogs had a pair of players earn All-American accolades from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Senior midfielder
Megan Millard and sophomore defender
Kathryn McCabe have both been named IWLCA third team All-American honorees.
This gives Wingate an All-American for the fourth straight year. The Bulldogs had never had an All-American prior to the 2022 season. This marks the second time in program history the 'Dogs have had a pair of IWLCA selections in the same season.
Leah Knowles was the first All-American in program history in 2022, while also earning honors in 2023 and 2024.
Paige Kamer was a USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American in 2023, while
Megan Biase was an IWLCA All-American in 2023.
Millard and McCabe led the Bulldogs to another impressive season, going 17-3 overall and 11-0 in the SAC to capture their third straight regular season SAC title. The 'Dogs advanced to the SAC championship game for the fourth straight season, while earning the second NCAA Tourney bid in program history.
Millard was named the SAC Midfielder of the Year, earning first team All-SAC accolades while also being named a first team All-Region selection. Millard was named an honorable mention All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine. The senior piled up 57 goals and 13 assists to go along with 61 draw controls, 28 caused turnovers and 36 ground balls. Millard led the 'Dogs in goals, ranking second in points and CTs and third in draw controls and ground balls. She was fifth in the SAC goals, sixth in points, 11th in draw controls and 13th in CTs.
McCabe was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Year, earning first team All-SAC and All-Region accolades while also picking up honorable mention All-American honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine. The sophomore registered 128 draw controls, 66 ground balls and 51 caused turnovers, adding a goal and an assist. She led a WU defense that led the nation in caused turnovers, while ranking eighth nationally in draw control percentage and ninth in scoring defense. McCabe led the SAC in caused turnovers and draw controls, ranking third in ground balls. She was 14th nationally in draw controls and 17th in CTs, ranking 25th in the nation in ground balls.
