Chad Harvey named third team All-American by D2 Baseball

Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University redshirt sophomore right-hander Chad Harvey has been named a third team All-American by D2 Baseball. Harvey earns All-American accolades for the first time in his career.

Harvey gives Wingate baseball at least one All-American in each of the last five years. He is the third pitcher to earn All-American accolades since 2021, joining current professionals Brody McCullough and Mitch Farris.

Harvey had a big year out of the Wingate bullpen, making 16 appearances on the season. He posted a 3-2 record while piling up six saves while compiling a 2.41 ERA. Harvey piled up 49 strikeouts in 41 innings of work, walking just 17 while holding opponents to a .170 average. Harvey allowed just 24 hits and seven extra-base hits in his 41 innings of work.

Harvey started his season with 2 2/3 shutout frames at Nova Southeastern, striking out two. He struck out five in 2 1/3 no-hit frames against Millersville to earn the save. Harvey notched a four-inning save at SAC champion and NCAA finalist Lenoir-Rhyne, striking out four while allowing a run on just two hits. He struck out three in two innings to earn the win against Tusculum. Harvey piled up seven strikeouts in five innings of work at Mars Hill to collect the win, allowing just one hit. He struck out three in 2 1/3 no-hit frames at UNCP while earning the save with two shutout frames against LMU. He earned a win at Mount Olive with a shutout inning, while striking out six in 3 2/3 no-hit frames at Anderson. He collected a win against Southern Wesleyan with 2 1/3 shutout innings and a pair of strikeouts. He notched a two-inning save against UNCP, striking out three in two innings. He added a save against Limestone with a strikeout in a scoreless inning of work. Harvey struck out five in 2 2/3 innings of work at Emory & Henry.
