Cleveland, Ohio----
One hundred ninety-two Wingate University student-athletes have received the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, sponsored by the NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA). The Academic Achievement Awards is a program which recognizes the academic accomplishments of NCAA Division II student-athletes.

"Our student-athletes have a high standard of excellence on the field and in the classroom," Wingate director of athletics Joe Reich says. "They are committed to the journey necessary to succeed in both areas."

For the first time since inception, there were more than 20,000 student-athletes recognized (22,756) from a record 202 institutions for the 2024-25 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards. This year's totals are the highest in the program's history. Historically, 190,032 total student-athletes have been recognized since the inception of the awards program.

This year, the Pennsylvania State Atlantic Conference (PSAC) takes home the top spot with the largest number of student-athlete honorees with 2,051 total. The South Atlantic Conference was second with 1,755 selections. The Northern Sun Conference took the bronze medal with 1,743 honorees.

In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the NCAA Division II institution must be a current dues-paying member of the D2ADA.

Also, the student-athlete must:

1) …have a cumulative grade point average of 3.500 or higher on a 4.000 scale;
2) …have completed a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work;
3) …have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
