Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University All-American swimmer
Leif-Henning Klüver (Risum-Lindholm, Germany, '17, '19 MAC) is swimming four events during the World Aquatics Masters Championships in Singapore over the next six days. He starts with the 100 Free Friday, followed by the 50 Free Monday. Klüver will finish the championships with the 50 Back and the 50 Breast Wednesday, August 13.
Klüver made the most of his six years at Wingate, earning two degrees: a master of accounting degree and a bachelor of science degree in finance. He was named an Academic All-America® by CoSIDA (now CSC) following his senior year. In his final national championship event, Klüver had five first team All-American swims at the 2017 NCAA meet in Birmingham, Alabama.
Following his four years as a WU student-athlete, Klüver spent two years as a graduate student assistant coach for the Bulldogs. He earned his MAC degree in May of 2019. In the fall of the same year, Klüver moved to Los Angeles to work at a small startup. He has been with Vector Travel ever since, now serving as the company's director of finance, accounting and compliance.
Klüver never left the pool, swimming for California coaching legend
Dave Salo from 2019 until 2024. He joined a masters' team in Irvine during the summer of 2024. His goal for the World Aquatics Masters Championships is to break his career best times in his events. Klüver will have company, as approximately 6,000 master-aged aquatics athletes from more than 100 countries are expected to compete.
