Dehaudt, Dwojak and Smyre post first team All-American swims at NCAAs Friday

Indianapolis, Ind.----Three Wingate University men's and women's swimming student-athletes posted first team All-American swims at the NCAA Division II swimming and diving national championships Friday evening. Wingate is competing inside the IU Natatorium on the campus of IU Indianapolis, as part of the colossal Division II championships festival.
 
Men's 500 Freestyle
 
- Freshman Fernando Dehaudt finished second with his time of 4:20.83
- His mark is a new school standard, breaking a 13-year-old record
- Iaroslav Denysenko held the previous mark of 4:21.48, set at the 2012 NCAAs
 
Women's 100 Breaststroke
 
- Junior Natalia Dwojak finished fourth with her time of 1:01.26
- Dwojak has lowered Wingate's school-record mark three times this semester
- She swam a 1:01.22 at the '25 SAC meet, then swam 1:01.11 and 1:01.26 at NCAAs
- Amanda Wenhold held the previous mark of 1:01.43, set at the 2023 NCAAs
 
Men's 200 Butterfly
 
- Senior Alex Smyre finished seventh with his time of 1:46.45
- For their Friday efforts, Dehaudt, Dwojak and Smyre receive first team All-American laurels
- Dwojak and Smyre also contributed to honorable mention AA relay swims Friday
 
Four honorable mention All-American swims Friday
 
- Wingate had four honorable mention swims Friday evening
- Men's 100 Backstroke: Ney Chagas Filho (48:18, 13th place)
- Men's 100 Breaststroke: Andres Martijena (54.12, 16th place)
- Women's 200 Freestyle Relay: Wingate (1:33.20, 16th place)
- Men's 200 Freestyle Relay: Wingate (1:20.10, 10th place)
- Women's relay: Dwojak, Elizabete Paula Ozola, Marta Beesmans Barquero, Lucie Andrews
- Men's relay: Yassine Sebbata, Anton Witzell, Smyre and Chagas Filho

- Drury tops both the men's and the women's leader boards
- The Drury men have 390 points, while the DU women have 358 points
- The WU men occupy ninth place with 117 points through 30 events
- The Bulldog women are 13th after 30 events with 91 points
- Thirty-seven women's teams and 35 men's squads have scored points
