Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University punter Rivers Teeter has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. Teeter earns Player of the Week accolades for the first time this season and third time in his career.

Teeter had a huge week, leading the #23 Bulldogs to a 28-7 victory at UVA Wise in the SAC opener. The Bulldogs are off to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2022 season.

Teeter was nearly perfect Saturday night, with three of his four punts being downed inside the UVA Wise five yard line, averaging 44.3 yards per punt. Teeter started his night with a 39-yard punt that was downed at the three. His next punt was a 51-yarder, which was downed at the two. His third punt was a 49-yarder that was downed at the one.

Teeter is averaging 41.4 yard per punt on the year, with six of his seven punts being downed inside the 20.

Wingate is back in action Saturday, hosting Carson-Newman at 6 p.m. in a rematch of the 2024 SAC title game.
