Boca Raton, Fla.----The Wingate University Bulldogs got five strong innings from
Chad Harvey, along with a
Bowen Powell grand slam en route to a 9-2 victory at Lynn University in NCAA Division II baseball action Friday afternoon. Wingate starts the year 1-0, while the Fighting Knights fall to 0-1.

FIRST INNING
- A Powell single and back-to-back walks loaded the bases for the Bulldogs
- Karpowicz drew a bases-loaded walk to give Wingate a 1-0 lead
- Two singles and an error put runners on second and third for Lynn in the bottom of the frame
- A Zayas RBI single tied it at one
- Harvey got back-to-back strikeouts to limit the damage
SECOND INNING
- Two walks and a Benamati single loaded the bases for Wingate in the second
- Groppuso drew a bases-loaded walk to put the Bulldogs back on top 2-1
- Powell followed by connecting on a grand slam to right center, giving the 'Dogs a five-run lead
EIGHTH INNING
- A Lashley RBI double helped Lynn cut the lead to four at 6-2
NINTH INNING
- Singles from McCammon, Karpowicz and Courville loaded the bases for the Bulldogs
- Hart was hit by a pitch to plate McCammon
- Griffin's two-run single put the 'Dogs on top 9-2
WRAPUP
- Harvey got the win, moving to 1-0 on the year
- He allowed an unearned run on three hits in five innings, striking out six
- Harvey retired the final 11 batters he faced, striking out the side in the third
- DiMaggio took the loss, allowing six runs on four hits in an inning of work
