Wingate’s Damir Ipkaev is the Conference Carolinas Swimmer of the Week

Greenville, S.C.----Wingate University senior team captain Damir Ipkaev (Moscow, Russia) is this week's Conference Carolinas Swimmer of the Week, as selected by the league's corporate office. Ipkaev is honored for the first time this season.

Ipkaev competed in two events for Wingate at the Grand Valley State Invitational Friday and Saturday. He posted an NCAA B cut 1000 Freestyle time of 9:17.75 to win the race. He also won the 500 Freestyle in 4:27.84.
 
On the men's team leader board, No. 7 Wingate finished third with 778.5 points. Host and No. 11 Grand Valley State was first with 809 points, followed by NCAA Division I IU Indianapolis in second with 800.5 points. No. 8 Findlay claimed fourth place with 359 points.
 
On the Horizon for the No. 7 Bulldogs

Wingate opens its home schedule Friday, Oct. 16, hosting Catawba. The first event is slated for 1 p.m.
