Bulldogs fall 72-56 at Catawba

Salisbury, N.C.----The Catawba College Indians picked up a 72-56 victory over visiting Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action Wednesday night. The Indians improve to 17-6 overall and 12-5 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 11-12 overall and 6-11 in league play.

KEY STATS

- Catawba shot 46 percent from the field, going eight-for-21 from three-point range (38 percent)
- Wingate shot 39 percent from the field, connecting on four-of-15 from deep (27 percent)
- The Bulldogs held a 33-26 rebounding advantage; Catawba had a 10-7 edge in second-chance points
- The Indians outscored the 'Dogs 30-26 in the paint
- Wingate was 18-for-23 at the free throw line; Catawba went 12-for-18

- Two Godley free throws gave the 'Dogs an early 7-5 lead
- A Corbin Pack jumper made it 9-6
- Nick Walker's layup gave the Indians a 10-9 advantage
- Bradley knocked down a three at the 10:48 mark to give Wingate a 14-10 advantage
- Catawba scored the next 10, taking a 20-14 lead on an Ibra Athie layup
- A Justin Banks jumper with 2:54 to go extended the lead to 10
- Bradley's layup with 1:06 to go made it 26-20

SECOND HALF

- Carson Daniel's layup in the opening minute made it 31-20
- A Daniels triple pushed the lead to 12
- Campbell's layup with 17:17 to go made it 34-24
- The Indians scored the next six, taking a 40-24 lead on two Athie free throws
- A Zion McDuffie steal and dunk gave Catawba a 48-26 lead at the 12:51 mark
- Wingate could get no closer than 16 the rest of the way
