Salisbury, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs got a combined 34 points, 19 rebounds and 11 assists from
Laura Montiel and
Laney Beale Wednesday night, cruising to a 73-47 victory at Catawba College in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action. Wingate improves to 15-8 overall and 10-7 in the SAC, while the Indians fall to 8-14 overall and 6-11 in league play.

- Two Merceron free throws in the final minute gave the Bulldogs a 12-8 lead
SECOND QUARTER
- Montiel's three in the opening minute put the 'Dogs on top 17-8
- Beale knocked down two triples in an 8-0 run that made it 25-11 at the 5:59 mark
- A Kaira Dixon-Booker three cut the lead to 11
- Wingate scored the next six, taking a 31-16 lead on a Merceron triple with 3:22 to go
- Mary Spry's layup cut the lead to 13
- Beale's layup at the buzzer gave the Bulldogs a 33-18 halftime advantage
THIRD QUARTER
- Beale's layup in the opening seconds extended the lead to 17
- Spry's layup at the 8:20 mark pulled Catawba within 13 at 35-22
- A layup and a three from Shorma sparked a 7-0 run that gave WU a 42-22 advantage
- Merceron's triple at the 5:29 mark stretched the lead to 23
- Spry trimmed the deficit to 19 with 28 seconds left
- Montiel made two free throws in the final second to make it 56-35
FOURTH QUARTER
- Wingate scored the first nine points of the fourth to stretch the lead to 30
- Montiel had four points in the flurry; Shorma added a three
- Catawba scored the next 12, making it 65-47 at the 2:21 mark
- Wingate scored the final eight points of the game to make the final margin 73-47
