Winston-Salem, N.C.----Wingate University men's indoor track and field newcomer
Dre Davis won two events at the ASICS Sound Invitational Saturday. The Bulldogs won eight events on the day, five men and three women. The meet was hosted at the new-and-improved JDL Fast Track.
In only his fourth collegiate meet, Davis won the men's 60-meter dash (6.82) and the men's seeded 200 meters (21.40). Davis achieved a personal-best time in both events. His 21.40 mark in the 200 meters is a new Wingate school standard for the event.
In the most recent USTFCCCA indoor checkpoint ratings, the Wingate men are the No. 1 team in the nation. The Bulldogs are No. 11 in the women's listing. The defending South Atlantic Conference champions had 51 student-athletes competing at the JDL Fast Track Saturday.
