Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs prevailed 7-6 over visiting Lander University in game one of Wednesday NCAA Division II softball doubleheader, while the Bearcats picked up an 8-2 victory in game two. The 'Dogs go to 7-3 overall, while Lander moves to 6-4 on the season.

- Lander scored six times in the bottom of the seventh to tie it
- Ava Perkins had the big blow in the frame, a game-tying grand slam to make it 6-6
EIGHTH INNING
- Huneycutt got a strikeout and a groundout to send the game to the bottom of the eighth
- McFadden was placed on second base to start the frame via International Tiebreaker rule
- Higginbotham put down a perfect bunt single, with the throw getting away, allowing McFadden to score the winning run
WRAPUP
- Huneycutt got the win, moving to 4-1 on the year
- She allowed three hits in 6 1/3 shutout innings, striking out nine and walking three
- Mattye Geddings took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in four innings of work
