Julia Garvin has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. Garvin earns Player of the Week accolades for the first time in her career.
Garvin had a career day on Sunday, leading #15 Wingate to a dominant 17-6 victory over Lander. The senior piled up seven points, with a goal and a career-best six assists. Garvin did most of her damage in the opening half as the 'Dogs built a 12-4 halftime lead. She assisted on four of Wingate's first eight goals, then scored the ninth goal of the day for the 'Dogs. Garvin's fifth assist of the day came with 1:43 left in the half.
Garvin has three goals and eight assists for the Bulldogs, ranking second on the team in assists while tying for second on the squad with her 11 points. She has helped the 'Dogs rank third in the nation in assists per game and sixth in points per game. Garvin ranks fourth in the SAC in assists and eighth in points per game.
The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday, traveling to Belmont Abbey for a 6:30 p.m. start
