Evansville, Ind.----Wingate University's 200 Medley Relay squads will swim for national titles Wednesday evening at the NCAA Division II swimming and diving national championships. This year's event is being contested inside the
Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana.
The Wingate women are the No. 7 seed (1:41.20) in the 200 Medley Relay, while the Bulldog men are the No. 12 seed (1:27.38). In last year's championships, the WU women earned first team All-American honors in the event, while the WU men were honorable mention All-American.
Individually, freshman
Nisa Gul Serdar will swim in the women's 200 Individual Medley consolation finals Wednesday night. She swam the 10th-fastest time in the morning preliminaries (2:03.35.). Sophomore
Yassine Sebbata will compete in the men's 50 Freestyle consolation finals. He swam the 11th-fastest time in morning prelims (19.73).
In the men's 1000 Freestyle, two Bulldogs are in line to receive All-American laurels. Sophomore
Fernando Dehaudt and freshman
Emil Heigre swam the third-fastest and sixth-fastest times, respectively, in morning prelims. An honorable mention All-American in last year's 1000 Free, Dehaudt swam a 9:01.75 this morning. Heigre posted a time of 9:06.85.
