Stacy Glover has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon.
Kathryn McCabe is the SAC Defensive Player of the Week.
The duo led the #13 Bulldogs to a pair of SAC road wins last week, as Wingate remained perfect in league play. The 'Dogs picked up a big 17-12 victory at #22 Anderson Wednesday, while rolling to a 17-1 win at Mars Hill Saturday.
Glover had a pair of impressive performances to earn Player of the Week accolades for the second time in the last three weeks. She poured in 13 goals in just 15 shots in the two victories for the 'Dogs. Glover got things started by piling up eight goals at Anderson in just 10 shots. She followed up by scoring five more goals in five shots at Mars Hill Saturday. Glover added four ground balls and a caused turnover on the week.
McCabe collects Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season and fifth time in her two-year WU career. She filled up the stat sheet with 15 draw controls, four caused turnovers and six ground balls in the two contests. McCabe had 10 draw controls, three CT and three ground balls in the Anderson win, while notching five draw controls, a CT and three more ground balls at Mars Hill.
Glover ranks second in the Sac and fifth in the nation with 42 goals this year, while leading the league with 4.67 goals per game and 4.89 points per contest. McCabe ranks second on the team, fourth in the SAC and 19
th in the nation with 2.44 CTs per game, while ranking second on the team and in the league with her 5.78 draw controls per game, good for 20
th in the nation.
Wingate is back in action Wednesday, hosting Lenoir-Rhyne at 5 p.m.
