NEWS | SAC WGOLF awards release, WU edition
Greenville, S.C.----The top-ranked Wingate University women's golf team delivered a stellar performance in the final round of the South Atlantic Conference championship, closing with a two-over-par round to finish at 21-over-par for the tournament. As a result, the Bulldogs secure the top seed heading into match play at The Preserve at Verdae.
Wingate was steady throughout the week, finishing the stroke-play portion of the event ranked first in the field in par-four scoring, total birdies, total pars and fewest bogeys. All five Bulldog student-athletes finished inside the top 25 individually, highlighting the depth of the lineup.
Final round quick hits
- Sophomore
Amely Bochaton, the No. 1 ranked player in the nation, fired a two-under-par final round with four birdies
- Bochaton finished the championship at one-under-par, the only player in the field to finish under par
- She claimed medalist honors, adding another win to her season resume
- Bochaton led the field in par-four scoring, total birdies and fewest bogeys
- Sophomore
Olivia Meinecke (No. 5 national) carded a one-under-par final round with one birdie
- She finished level par for the tournament to take solo second place behind Bochaton
- Meinecke led the entire field in total pars
- Senior
Lauren Sutcliffe delivered a one-over-par final round with two birdies
- She finished seven-over-par for the tournament, securing a seventh-place finish
- Sophomore
Haley Paramore contributed in the final round with one birdie in a four-over-par effort to support the team score
- Competing as an individual, senior
Thalia Perez-Vieco closed with a strong one-over-par final round
- She finished inside the top 20 overall, adding to Wingate's strong presence on the leaderboard

Up next
With the win, Wingate advances to the match play portion of the SAC championship as the No. 1 seed. The Bulldogs will face No. 4 Catawba in the semifinal round, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
No. 2 Lincoln Memorial and No. 3 Anderson will battle in the other semifinal. The match-play format mirrors that of the NCAA Division II national championship, providing an important postseason test as Wingate continues its pursuit of a conference title.
