Bulldogs plate 24 runs in doubleheader sweep at LMU

Harrogate, Tenn.----The Wingate University Bulldogs scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning in game one of Saturday's South Atlantic Conference baseball doubleheader at Lincoln Memorial University to rally for an 11-10 victory, while prevailing 13-6 in game two to improve to 32-14 overall and 22-8 in the SAC, while the Railsplitters fall to 27-19 overall and 18-12 in league play.

- The 'Dogs had four of the seven extra-base hits with three of the four homers

- An RBI single from Morse pushed the lead to two
- Dugan's two-run homer gave the Railsplitters a 9-5 lead

EIGHTH INNING

- Griffin lined a one-out single to center, then went to third on an Evans double
- Hart's RBI single cut the lead to three
- An Alex Kowalski RBI groundout in the bottom of the frame gave LMU a 10-6 cushion

NINTH INNING

- Groppuso, Powell and McCammon started the inning with three straight singles to load the bases
- Karpowicz delivered by launching a game-tying grand slam to make it 10-10
- Evans then ripped a two-out single to left
- He stole second and third, then scored the go-ahead run on an LMU error
- Mehling retired the side in the bottom of the frame, working around a two-out error to preserve the win

WRAPUP

- Mehling got the win, allowing a run on one hit in two innings, striking out one
- Easton Barnett took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in two-thirds of an inning
