Greenville, S.C.----The No. 5 Wingate University men's golf team delivered a dominant performance through 36 holes at the South Atlantic Conference championship, taking control of the leaderboard and holding a six-shot lead heading into the final round inside The Preserve at Verdae layout.
After opening with a three-over-par round one, the Bulldogs surged in round two with a five-under-par team performance, highlighted by 20 birdies on the day. Wingate sits in first place overall, showcasing both depth and firepower across the lineup.
Round No. 1 & No. 2 quick hits
- Senior
Lewis Beeden, the No. 1 ranked player in the nation, leads the individual field
- Beeden opened with a six-under-par round featuring five birdies and an eagle
- He followed with an even-par round two, adding five more birdies
- Beeden holds the individual lead after 36 holes
- Senior
Alfie Storer made a strong move up the leaderboard
- Storer bounced back from a three-over opening round with a three-under-par 69 in round two
- He recorded five birdies in the second round and sits third overall
- Sophomore
Cole Rouse provided steady scoring for the Bulldogs
- Rouse opened with a one-over-par round, collecting three birdies
- He sits inside the top 10 after 36 holes
- Freshman
Mattia D'Errico showed resilience in round two
- After a five-over opening round, he responded with a one-under-par performance featuring four birdies
- D'Errico is currently tied for 12th
- Junior
Brandon Skidmore added depth to the lineup
- Skidmore carded a one-under-par round two with three birdies
- He is also tied for 12th heading into the final round

- Wingate leads the tournament by six shots after 36 holes
- The Bulldogs recorded 14 birdies and an eagle in round one

- The five-under-par second round marked one of the lowest team scores in the field
