Chapel Hill, N.C.----The top-ranked Wingate University women's golf team will take on a new adventure Saturday, competing in the North Carolina Challenge Cup. The UNC Chapel Hill Tar Heels host the one-day, 36-hole tournament at the Finley Golf Club.
The Bulldogs enter the tournament as the No. 1 team in NCAA Division II, continuing a dominant season that has already produced seven team victories. Wingate will face a strong Division I field, providing another opportunity to test itself against top competition ahead of postseason play.
Wingate is the only Division II team in the field. The 12th-ranked UNC Tar Heels are the highest-ranked Division I team in the field, which also includes UAB, Elon, Gardner-Webb, Michigan State, NC Central, UNCG, UNCW, Presbyterian, Queens, USC Upstate and William & Mary.

Competition begins at 8:45 a.m. Saturday. Admission is free and parking is available for the public at the Finley Field Lot by the soccer/lacrosse/track complex on Old Mason Farm Road.
