Chapel Hill, N.C.----The Wingate University women's golf team delivered a strong performance against a competitive Division I field, finishing fourth overall at the North Carolina Challenge Cup on the UNC Finley Golf Course layout Saturday. With only UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Wilmington and Michigan State finishing ahead, the Bulldogs placed ahead of nine Division I programs, including UNC Greensboro and Elon.
Wingate posted rounds of nine-over-par and 11-over-par in the 36-hole event, showcasing their ability to compete at a high level against top-tier opposition. Wingate tallied 15 total birdies and an eagle across the two rounds, highlighting their scoring potential throughout the tournament. The Bulldogs continued to test themselves against elite competition as they prepare for NCAA Division II postseason play.

The N.C. Challenge Cup marks the conclusion of the 2025-26 regular season for the Wingate women's golf team. Next up for the Bulldogs is the South Atlantic Conference championship tournament April 12-14. The three-round, three-day event will take place inside The Preserve at Verdae in Greenville, South Carolina. Wingate is the defending SAC champions.
