Wingate prepares for upcoming NCAAs with six last-chance appearances

Wingate, N.C.----The nationally-ranked Wingate University outdoor track and field teams made their final preparations for the 2026 NCAA Division II national championships by notching six last-chance meet appearances during the last eight days.
 
Duke Twilight women's highlights (May 3, 2026)
 
- Sira Bo and Firdaouss Hriche earned top 10 finishes in the 3000 Steeplechase
- Duke Twilight 3000 Steeplechase times: Bo (10:26.19) and Hriche (10:35.95)
- Abigail Bester posted a personal-best time in the 5000 meters (16:30.20)
- Baia Touza recorded a personal-best time in the 1500 meters (4:28.47)
 
Duke Twilight men's highlights (May 3, 2026)
 
- Joaquin Campos recorded a personal-best time in the 1500 meters (3:42.81)
- Samuel Gilson had a personal-best time in the 3000 Steeplechase (8:55.37)
- Charlie Stephenson posted a personal-best time in the 5000 meters (14:02.95)
 
Liberty Twilight Qualifier women's highlights (May 6, 2026)
 
- The Wingate women won the 4x400 meter relay, defeating Virginia Tech
- Team members: Dounia Routbi, Lara Castano, Corinne Cotton, Natalie Pinzan
- Wingate posted a time of 3:43.89; Second-place Virginia Tech had a time of 3:51.41
 
Montreat Multis women's highlights (May 6-7, 2026)
 
- Ally Holmberg set a new school-record in the heptathlon with 5019 points
- Holmberg is No. 18 on the NCAA Division II heptathlon charts
 
Mount Olive First Chance Qualifier women's highlights (May 8, 2026)
 
- Amber Lawless won the shot put with an NCAA provisional mark of 14.69 meters
- Lawless is No. 17 on the NCAA D2 shot put charts with mark of 14.72 meters
- The Academic All-America achieved this mark at April's Duke Invitational
 
Lee University Last Chance Meet men's highlights (May 9, 2026)
 
- Levente Palvolgyi had a personal-best time in the 800 meters (1:48.61)
- Palvolgyi is No. 21 on the NCAA Division II 800 meters' list
 
Lenoir-Rhyne University Last Chance Meet women's highlights (May 9-10)
 
- Hayat Abdeselam won the triple jump with her mark of 12.33 meters
- Abdeselam is tied for No. 16 on the NCAA D2 triple jump charts
- Ally Holmberg won the long jump with her mark of 6.00 meters (NCAA provisional)
- Holmberg is No. 21 on the NCAA D2 long jump charts (6.05 meters, VertKlasse)
- The Wingate women won the 4x400 meter relay
- Team members: Dounia Routbi, Lara Castano, Corinne Cotton, Natalie Pinzan
- Wingate posted an NCAA Division II provisional time of 3:42.73
 
Lenoir-Rhyne University Last Chance Meet men's highlights (May 9-10)
 
- Dequan Thompson won the triple jump with his personal-best mark of 15.12 meters
- Thompson is No. 20 on the NCAA D2 men's triple jump charts
