Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University freshman goalkeeper Cole Freeman has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. Freeman hauls in Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Freeman led the Bulldogs to an impressive season-opening victory Saturday night, as the Bulldogs took down Lander 2-0 at Pride Park.

Freeman notched a clean sheet in his Wingate debut, while collecting three saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday, traveling to Converse at 7 p.m. The 'Dogs open league play Saturday at LMU at 3:30 p.m.
