INFO | USTFCCCA men's poll, preseason edition
Â
New Orleans, La.----The defending national champion Wingate University men's cross country team is No. 1 in the preseason NCAA Division II U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) coaches' poll. In addition, the Bulldogs occupy the No. 1 spot in the Southeast Region rankings.
Â
Wingate is the defending SAC and Southeast Region champion in men's cross country. The Bulldogs won their second national championship in three years last fall. Wingate had seven student-athletes earn All-American honors in 2025, led by second-place finisher
Antonin Saint-Peyre ('26).
Â
What They Are Saying
Wingate senior student-athlete
David Holman
"The team is pleased to be ranked No. 1, but that doesn't matter to us. All we care about is what happens on December 4 (at NCAAs). Rankings can change every week, but what doesn't change is the work we put in day in and day out."
Â
"Preseason has gone well, as we are getting the required mileage in. We will keep ticking weeks off, sub-tempos, easy runs, long runs. It's nothing special, but as we keep turning up, our hard work will be rewarded. The team are excited to get underway on September 11. We have a great atmosphere around us and we are excited to share this season with each other."
