Nick Ross joins the Bulldog family from Evelyn Mack Academy. At Newman Smith High School, Ross was an All-District performer as senior. He helped the Trojans win the district championship his final season. Newman Smith was the number one 4A team in the state of Texas the final two weeks of the season (a first for the Trojan program). Ross led the team in assists with 127. He also topped the Trojan charts with his 77 percent free throw percentage.

A team captain his senior campaign, Ross played for head basketball coach Percy Johnson at Newman Smith. Ross had game highs of 22 points and 12 assists his senior year, helping the team to a school record 29-4 overall ledger. The Trojans achieved its first-ever number one ranking in the Dallas/Fort Worth area rankings. In track, Ross was a regional qualifier in the 4x200 relay. Nick is the son of Bradford and Janet Ross. His dad was an All-State performer in baseball and track who achieved many collegiate honors in both sports. Brad Ross was a first round draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays.
