Biography
2011-12: Jaime Vaughn was selected to the pre-season All-SAC team by the league’s sports information directors.
2010-11: For the second year in a row, Vaughn was a second team All-South Atlantic Conference selection. Vaughn was second on the team and 12th in the SAC with 13.9 points per game. He was second in the league with his 41.8 percent accuracy from three-point land, while his 83.3 percent shooting from the free throw line ranked third on the league’s charts. Vaughn was 10th in the conference with 1.5 steals per contest, 11th with 2.70 assists per game and 15th with 1.76 triples per game. He was solid in league contests, shooting 44.7 percent from three-point land, averaging 14.7 points and 2.94 assists per game.
Vaughn scored in double figures 18 times last season, while scoring at least 20 points eight times. He scored 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting at Mount Olive. He had 24 points, knocking down all three shots from beyond the arc against Tusculum. Vaughn poured in a career-high 36 points (hitting 14-of-15 free throws) in Wingate’s win at Newberry. He scored 28 points in the home victory over Newberry, followed by a 22-point outing in the win against Mars Hill. Vaughn finished the regular season in style, notching his first career double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds in a victory at Brevard. He hit seven-of-11 shots to score 23 points in Wingate’s Food Lion SAC tournament quarterfinal win over Brevard.
2009-10: Vaughn earned second team All-SAC accolades. He finished second on the team and 15th in the conference with 11.7 points per game. Vaughn was fourth in the league, shooting 43.7 percent from three-point range and 81.2 percent from the free throw line. He was seventh in the SAC with 1.86 three-pointers per game, while making a team-high 52 trifectas on the year. Vaughn finished third on the team with 54 assists on the year. He scored in double figures 14 times, while scoring at least 15 points nine times. Vaughn had 20 points in Wingate’s victory over Mount Olive. In a three-game league stretch against Tusculum, Lenoir-Rhyne and Lincoln Memorial, Vaughn poured in 71 points, hitting 24-of-40 shots from the field and 15-of-21 shots from beyond the arc. That stretch included a 26-point performance against Tusculum, when Vaughn went six-for-six from three-point range.
2008-09: An All-SAC freshman team selection, Vaughn contributed 8.3 points per game to Wingate’s balanced attack. He was fourth on the team’s scoring ledger. Vaughn was one of eight Bulldogs who averaged between 7.0 points per game and 10.8 points per game. The freshman sharpshooter hit 33 three-point field goals, second on the team to classmate Chase Smith’s 35 triples. Vaughn also elevated his play in the league games, averaging 9.1 points per game in SAC contests. Vaughn led Wingate with 20 points at Tusculum (Jan. 24). He hit seven-of-11 field goals, including six-of-eight from downtown against the Pioneers. Vaughn hit double-digits in 11 contests last season, including three of Wingate’s final five games. Wingate matched Lenoir-Rhyne for best home record in the SAC, as both the Bulldogs and the Bears won 10 of 12 home contests during the 2008-09 campaign.
HIGH SCHOOL: Jaime Vaughn was a two-time all-conference and all-country performer at Eagle’s Landing High School, while serving as the team captain his junior and senior years. He was named the team’s Most Improved Player his junior year while being named the team MVP his senior season. Vaughn led the team with 23.8 points per game his senior season, while also leading the way in assists. Jaime Vaughn was born on December 3, 1990. He is the son of James and Geraldire Vaughn.
