Biography
2010: Burris competed in seven of seven meets as a junior for the Bulldogs. He finished 37th in the Food Lion SAC Championship race with a time of 27:53. An excellent student, Burris was named to the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
2009: Burris competed in eight meets as a sophomore, finishing 39th at the SAC Championship race. Burris completed the course at Southside Park in Newton, N.C. in 30:55.
2008: Ryan Burris ran in seven races for the Bulldogs during his freshman season. The New London native finished 19th at the Pre-SAC meet hosted by Wingate, recording a 5K time of 18:32.
High School: Burris was a member of the cross country team and the baseball team at North Stanly High School. His cross country coach for the Comets was Drew Laucher. The number one runner for NSHS, Burris was team MVP his senior year. He won the most improved award as a junior. A team captain as a senior, Burris also gained recognition as an All-Stanly County cross country performer. His classroom accolades included membership in the National Honor Society. Ryan Burris is the son of Kerry and Ginny Burris. Kerry Burris is a 1982 graduate of Wingate.
