Wingate University Athletics

Jon Garcia saw action in 11 games for Wingate in 2008. He recorded 25 tackles, six tackles for loss and three QB sacks in his first Bulldog season. Garcia had a season-high six tackles at Newberry. In his Wingate debut, he had three tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack in a road victory at Saint Paul’s (Va.). Garcia transferred to Wingate from the University of North Alabama. He played two seasons for the Lions, helping UNA win the 2006 Gulf South Conference title. At Orange Park High School, Garcia was a member of the football, track and weight-lifting teams for the Raiders. He was a two-time football team MVP, serving as a captain his senior season. Garcia made All-Conference two years. He posted 13 sacks as a senior, leading the area. Jon Garcia is the son of Robert and Jamie Garcia. His dad played college football.
