Jon McKinney posted 32 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and three sacks for the Bulldogs in 2008. He recorded six stops each in victories over Brevard and North Greenville. In the NGU contest, McKinney had two QB sacks. In 2007, he had eight tackles. His totals included three tackles for loss (27 yards). McKinney also had two sacks and one fumble recovery in 2007. He had 1.5 sacks and two tackles in a season opening win at Fayetteville State. Jon McKinney was a three-sport student-athlete at Richmond (Ga.) Academy (football, wrestling, track and field). His football coach was Jamie Echols. McKinney was an All-Conference performer, leading the team in sacks. He was the team captain and the team MVP for the football program. McKinney has also spent time at Eastern Arizona College, helping the Gila Monsters put together the number one defense in the NJCAA. McKinney is the son of James and Karen Young.
