2011-12: Eddie Lewis participated in 32 games during his junior season as a Bulldog. He averaged 5.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. Lewis led the team in three-point field goal percentage at an outstanding 51.8 percent (43-of-83). He shared the team lead (with seniors
Jaime Vaughn and
Chase Smith) with his 43 three-pointers made. Lewis shot a career-best six-of-six from three-point range in a victory over Belmont Abbey. He scored 18 points, grabbed four rebounds and recorded a steal in 22 minutes of play. Lewis posted double-figure points four times during the Bulldogs’ post-season NCAA tournament run.
2010-11: Lewis was active in 25 games for the Bulldogs. He averaged 1.5 points per game, with a season-high 10 points against Mount Olive. Lewis’ contributions are not reflected in numbers. He always brings an incredible boost of energy on and off the bench with his tough defense, good ball handling and support for his teammates.
2009-10: Lewis appeared in 14 games during his freshman season at Wingate, averaging 0.9 points per game, while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. He had two points and a steal at UNC Pembroke. Lewis had four points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals at Catawba. He collected three points, four rebounds and an assist at Tusculum.
High School: Lewis was named Heide Trask High School Male Athlete of the Year in May of 2009. The Pender Chronicle named Lewis its Male Athlete of the Year as well. Lewis was a member of the basketball, football and track teams at Heide Trask. His basketball coach was
Scott Slocum.
On the hardwood, Lewis averaged 17.2 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game, 3.2 steals per game and 2.7 assists per game following his senior season. He was an All-Conference selection in both basketball and football during his time at Heide Trask. Lewis exhibited his versatility by qualifying for the 1A state track meet in May. Lewis earned the David Diggs Memorial Athletic Scholarship Award during his senior year. In addition, he received the Heide Trask Senior Spirit Award.
