Biography
2010-11: Sousa received an honorable mention All-American laurel in the 200 Backstroke. Sousa was an All-Bluegrass Mountain Conference selection in the 100 and 200 Backstroke, the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays and the 400 Medley Relay. Sousa currently holds the second-fastest time in the 100 and 200 Backstroke events.
2009-10: It would be hard to match a freshman year the Lee Sousa gave Wingate, but he did an admirable job of doing so his sophomore year. He took home multiple All-Conference awards, he qualified for NCAA championships with an “A” cut and he was the team’s top backstroker.
2008-09: As a freshman, Lee Sousa was an All-American and took home plenty of hardware from both the BMC and NCAA championships. Sousa’s focus was on the Backstroke, but he also swam some short distance Freestyle events. Sousa was the top backstroker on the team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Sousa hails from Cornelius, N.C. He was a standout swimmer at Hopewell High School. While at Hopewell, Sousa was a co-captain for the varsity team. His high school coach was Abigail Bash. Sousa was also an active member of the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club swim team. Lee is the son of Brian and Carol Sousa.
