Biography

2009-10: Andrea Velasquez finished in a tie for third in the Tusculum College Fall Classic and Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. Velasquez shot a season low 74 in the Lenoir-Rhyne event. Her 82.8 average was second lowest among returning Bulldogs.

2008-09: Velasquez completed 17 rounds for the Bulldogs in her sophomore season. She finished seventh (83-77) at the L-R Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. Her second round 77 was her best for the year. Velasquez had seven Top-20 finishes during the year. 

2007-08: Velasquez was a second team All-SAC performer during her first year with the Bulldogs. She played in 10 events, posting a season stroke average of 83.9. Velasquez posted rounds of 88 and 86 to finish 14th at the Chick-Fil-A Intercollegiate. She followed that with rounds of 93 and 80 at the J. Ralph Hargett Memorial to finish 12th. Velasquez posted scores of 83, 80 and 87 at the SAC Tournament, good for an eighth-place finish.

High School: Velasquez was a national champion and Eastern Region Player of the Year in the 12-14 age group in 2002. She was the number four ranked player in Venezuela in 2006. Velasquez won the 2006 Schick Championship. She also won the 2005 Guataparo Junior Championship and the 2004 Abierto Juvenil Izcaragu. She finished second in the National Junior Championship in 2006 and fourth in the British Junior Open qualifying in 2006. Velasquez represented Venezuela in three international tournaments from 2004-06. Born October 30, 1990, Andrea is the daughter of David and Leyla Velasquez.
