Wingate University Athletics

2012: Kayla Osterhus appeared in 18 matches during her junior year at Wingate. She registered 13 kills and 16 digs on the year, along with a pair of blocks. Osterhus started her season with three kills against Winston-Salem State. She had two kills against Mars Hill, followed by a two-kill performance against Brevard. Osterhus had a season-high five digs against Lees-McRae, while registering three kills at Brevard. 

2011: Osterhus appeared in 12 matches during her sophomore year at Wingate, notching 12 kills while hitting .500 on the season. She also had 21 digs and six aces on the year. Osterhus hit .600 with three kills against St. Augustine’s, adding five digs and an ace. She had four kills in seven swings at Shaw, adding two digs and two aces. Osterhus had five digs in the win at Brevard.

2010: Osterhus appeared in 12 matches during her freshman season at Wingate, notching 18 kills while hitting .351 on the season. She also collected 15 digs on the year. Osterhus had two kills and a career-high seven digs in her collegiate debut against Coker. She had a career-best six kills in a league victory over mars Hill, hitting .625 for the match. Osterhus followed that performance with five kills and a .500 hitting percentage against Pfeiffer.

High School: Osterhus was captain, kill leader and team MVP for Covenant Day School last season. She played for Union County VBC as a junior. Her older brother, Eric, graduated from Wingate in 2009. Osterhus teamed with fellow incoming players Allison Rickher and Alison Cooke with the Carolina Juniors Volleyball Club in 2009.

She has been part of a very successful team in each of her three seasons here, and it is obvious that the team as a whole has a great amount of respect for her in terms of her investment in the program, and for her work ethic."
