Wingate University freshman right-hander Stacey Houser had an impressive debut Sunday at Chowan, helping the Bulldogs to a doubleheader sweep. Houser tossed a one-hit shutout in her debut, while also driving in a pair of runs.
Houser went the distance in her first collegiate start, striking out five without walking a batter while allowing just one hit. She also went two-for-four with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in the first game of the doubleheader, leading Wingate to a 9-0 win.
The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday, traveling to Erskine. Wingate's first home doubleheader is Saturday, hosting Coker at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs are back on the road Sunday, traveling to Pfeiffer for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
