Wingate junior Ashley Hinderer (Uniontown, Ohio) won the Catawba College Chick-fil-A Cross Country individual 5K title with a course-record time of 19:14 Saturday. Hinderer and her teammates won the team title as well, giving first-year head coach Ashley Vaughn Glover a team victory in her first meet as head coach.

“Ashley executed a nice race at the Chick-fil-A Invitational,” Glover says. “She worked with her teammates to take the race out from the beginning and used her training to finish strong. I am excited for the season she has ahead of her.”

In 2013, Hinderer made the All-SAC Freshman team as a first-year Bulldog with a 20:16 5K at the SAC championship meet. Wingate won the 2013 league crown as a result of the efforts of Hinderer and her running mates. Hinderer is a two-time SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll student.
