Wingate University senior All-American Abby Saehler (Iowa City, Iowa) earned SAC Player of the Week honors Tuesday after leading the Bulldogs to a 6-0 week, defeating three NCAA Tournament teams from 2015.
Saehler piled up 79 kills in six matches for the 10-time defending SAC champion Bulldogs, averaging 3.59 kills per set with a .293 hitting percentage, adding 2.41 digs and 0.45 blocks per set to go along with six aces.
Saehler had 11 kills in the sweep over UNCP, while notching nine kills and 12 digs in the Erskine sweep. She collected 13 kills and seven digs in the Limestone sweep, hitting .310 while adding two aces. Saehler had 17 kills, six digs and five blocks against Armstrong in a rematch of the 2013 and 2014 NCAA Southeast Regional title match, hitting an impressive .441, committing only two errors in 34 swings. She had 11 kills and nine digs against King, while piling up a career-high tying 18 kills in the huge five-set win at Flagler, who Wingate met in the regional title match in 2009, 2010 and 2011, adding 14 digs.
