Jefferson City, Tenn.----Carson-Newman College senior forward Shari Buford (Hampton, Ga.) posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds as the Eagles topped Wingate University 78-68 Wednesday night in Holt Fieldhouse on the Carson-Newman campus.

The number 10 team in the NCAA Division II top 25 poll, Carson-Newman remains undefeated at 14-0 overall and 4-0 in the South Atlantic Conference. Wingate is 8-6 overall and 1-3 in the SAC.

Buford led three Eagle players in double figures Wednesday. C-N junior guard Mandy Mendenhall (Kingston Springs, Tenn.) had 14 points, while senior guard Ashley Kyle (Jefferson City, Tenn.) contributed 12 points and a team-high eight assists.

For Wingate, senior center Stacie Rhodes (Knightdale, N.C.) and sophomore guard/forward Kurie Washington (Marion, N.C.) posted 13 points each. Rhodes hit six-of-six shots from the floor Wednesday. Bulldog junior guard CC Brooks (Mount Holly, N.C.) had 11 points, four rebounds and three assists, while junior forward Stefani Shuey (Charlotte, N.C.) contributed 10 points on five-of-six shooting.
