BOX SCORE
Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University sophomore catcher
Josh Sugg (Raleigh, N.C.) went six-for-seven with two homers, seven RBI and six runs scored as the Bulldogs plated a SAC-record 30 runs on a SAC-record 30 hits in the 30-15 win over the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State University Wednesday afternoon at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field. The 45 combined runs scored by the two teams is also a conference record. The Bulldogs improve to 16-10 on the season, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 9-4 overall.
Sugg's six hits and six runs scored both tie SAC records. Junior designated hitter
Tres Ramirez (Ocala, Fla.) and sophomore infielder
Jacob Karr (Richmond, Va.) drove in five runs each for the Bulldogs. Sophomores
Chris Vazquez (Tyrone, Ga.) and
Casey Allison (Horse Shoe, N.C.) each went four-for-four, combining for five runs and three RBI. The Bulldogs scored in every inning Wednesday, including eight runs in the first and 10 in the sixth. The Bulldogs had 10 extra-base hits on the day, while every starter had at least one hit and one run scored.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Bulldogs scored eight in the bottom half of the inning. Karr and Allison got it started with RBI singles. Sugg added an RBI double while senior infielder
Logan Isaacs (Raleigh, N.C.) capped the scoring in the first with a two-run single to make it 8-1.
The Bulldogs added three more runs in the second, getting back-to-back homers from Sugg and redshirt senior outfielder
Nick Siega-Riz (Clemmons, N.C.) to make it 11-2. An RBI single from Ramirez in the third pushed the lead to 10.
Vazquez drove home Wingate’s 13th run with an RBI single in the fourth. An RBI double from Allison, followed by an RBI single from redshirt freshman first baseman
Brian Yeung (Raleigh, N.C.) in the fifth made it 15-3. The Yellow Jackets cut the lead to 11 in the top of the sixth. The Bulldogs answered with 10 runs in the bottom of the inning.
Yeung started it with an RBI single, followed by a two-run double from Sugg. Freshman outfielder
Tripp Faulk (Little River, S.C.) added an RBI single, as did redshirt freshman infielder
James Tedder (Clemmons, N.C.), making it 20-4. Ramirez would cap the scoring for the inning with a three-run double, putting the Bulldogs on top by 21.
The Yellow Jackets answered with seven runs in the seventh, getting a two-run single from sophomore outfielder
Eric Temple (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and a three-run double from freshman infielder
Hunter Gordon (Powhatan, Va.), making it 25-11.

Junior left-hander
Cale Rogers (Snow Camp, N.C.) got the win, improving to 1-1 on the year. He allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits in five innings of work, striking out five. Freshman
