Four Bulldogs earn All-Region accolades from NCBWA and D2CCA

NCBWA All-Region | D2CCA All-Region

Wingate, N.C.----The D2CCA and NCBWA announced All-Region teams, with four Wingate University Bulldogs earning a spot on both squads. Jalen Evans is a first team NCBWA and D2CCA All-Region honoree, with Ben Karpowicz collecting first team accolades from the D2CCA and second team honors from the NCBWA. Chad Harvey and Tanner McCammon collected second team recognition from both publications.

Evans adds a pair of first team All-Region nods to his first team All-SAC selection. He hit .424 on the season, piling up 87 hits including 19 doubles, a triple and 10 homers. He drove in 54 runs and scored 65 times, while stealing 39 bases in 45 attempts. Evans posted a .530 on-base percentage and .673 slugging percentage, good for a 1.203 OPS. He led the SAC in stolen bases, ranking third in average and on-base percentage, fifth in hits, sixth in runs and total bases, eighth in doubles and slugging percentage, 10th in homers and 11th in RBI. Evans ranked 11th in the nation in stolen bases, 26th in on-base percentage, 29th in average and 30th in hits.

Karpowicz had a huge first season at Wingate to collect first team All-SAC accolades. He hit .380 with 22 homers and 74 RBI, adding eight doubles and a triple while scoring 56 runs. He compiled a .847 slugging percentage and .505 on-base percentage, good for a 1.352 OPS. Despite missing 10 games during the season, Karpowicz still led the SAC with his 22 homers, ranking second in RBI. He was also the league leader in slugging percentage and OPS, ranking fifth in total bases and ninth in runs scored. He was eighth nationally in homers and 20th in RBI.

Harvey went 9-1 on the season, posting a 4.05 ERA while piling up 96 strikeouts in 93 1/3 innings of work. Harvey held opponents to a .235 average on the season. He was second in the SAC in strikeouts and wins, ranking fifth in ERA.

McCammon also had a huge first season with the Bulldogs, hitting .382 with 92 hits including 21 homers and 23 doubles. He drove in 84 runs and scored 79 times, posting a .739 slugging percentage and .468 on-base percentage. McCammon led the SAC in RBI, doubles, total bases and runs scored, ranking second in homers and third in hits. He was fourth in slugging percentage and ninth in batting average. McCammon ranked was sixth in the nation in doubles and RBI, while ranking seventh nationally in total bases, 11th in homers and 12th in hits and runs scored.
