Salisbury, N.C.----The Wingate University men’s and women’s tennis teams picked up non-conference victories over Catawba College Wednesday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center. The Bulldog women pitched a 9-0 shutout, while the Wingate men earned an 8-1 victory. The event represents Wingate’s final dual matches of the fall season.

Ally Prior 6-1, 6-0 at the number one singles flight. Earlier in the day, Evers teamed with senior
Samantha Alschlager to defeat Prior and senior
Steffi Cook 8-5 in the number two doubles match.
The defending South Atlantic Conference champions did not lose more than five games in any singles match. Wingate started the day with 8-1, 8-5 and 8-3 victories in the three doubles matches.

Alex Macdonald 6-3, 6-2 in the number one singles match. Lichtenstein paired with freshman Neal Towlson to defeat Catawba’s
Thomas Mitchell and
Pierce Hoover 8-4 in the number one doubles match.
Five Wingate players won two matches each. Senior
Flavio Rathsam topped Mitchell 6-3, 7-5 at the number two singles flight. Rathsam and freshman
Diego Martinez earned an 8-5 triumph in the number two doubles match.
