Charlotte, N.C.----The Charlotte 49ers earned a 7-0 men’s tennis victory over Wingate University Monday afternoon at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex. Charlotte is 8-5 overall, while NCAA Division II number 32 Wingate is 9-6 overall. Charlotte has won five of its last six matches.
 
The 49ers swept the doubles competition to claim the doubles point. At number one doubles, Charlotte’s Jack Williams and Jordi Massallé Ferrer’s match with Wingate’s Kennedy Cancelado and Ryan Forbes was not finished due to the 49ers already claiming the doubles point. The 49ers were leading the match 6-5.
 
At number two doubles, Charlotte’s Alex Calott and Paul Cisti defeated Wingate’s Roberto Hennis and Westin Bennett 8-2. At number three doubles, Charlotte’s Krzysztof Kwasniewicz and Kamil Khalil defeated Wingate’s Sebastian Hall and Josh Eardley 8-2.
 
Charlotte won the six singles matches to claim the overall victory. At number one singles, Williams defeated Cancelado 6-2, 7-6 (7-3). At number two singles, Massallé Ferrer defeated Hall 6-4, 6-0. At number three singles, Calott defeated Hennis 6-4, 6-2.
 
At number four singles, Cisti defeated Forbes 6-2, 6-3. At number five singles, Khalil defeated Eardley 6-2, 6-4. At number six singles, Charlotte’s Nate Shanok defeated Bennett 6-1, 6-1.
 
The Bulldogs resume South Atlantic Conference play Thursday, visiting Catawba for a 2 p.m. twin bill with the Wingate women’s team. The 49ers return to action when they host Texas-Pan American Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
