Gaffney, S.C.----Wingate University junior Ryan Forbes (Charlotte, N.C.) won a three-set thriller Sunday afternoon, clinching a 5-4 victory for the 32nd-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs over Limestone College in NCAA Division II men’s tennis action. Wingate improves to 8-3 overall while the Saints fall to 4-2 on the season.

The Bulldogs won two of three doubles matches on Sunday. Forbes teamed with freshman Kennedy Cancelado (Miami Springs, Fla.) for a 9-7 win in number two doubles. Sophomore Josh Eardley (Newcastle, Staffordshire, England) and freshman Sebastian Hall (Lörrach, Germany) earned an 8-4 victory at the number three doubles slot.
 
Hall registered a 6-4, 6-1 victory at number three singles, while Eardley added a 7-5, 6-4 win at number six singles. Forbes dropped the opening set 6-7 in number five singles, but won 6-2 in the second set to force a decisive third set. Forbes won 6-2 to give the Bulldogs the 5-4 win.

Wingate returns to action Wednesday, taking on Georgia College.
