Wingate, N.C.----For the second day in a row, Wingate University junior Ryan Forbes (Charlotte, N.C.) won the deciding match, lifting the number 42 Bulldog men’s tennis team to a crucial 5-4 Southeast Region victory over number 50 Mount Olive at the WU Tennis Complex. Both Forbes and freshman Kennedy Cancelado (Miami Springs, Fla.) won two matches each for Wingate (14-8 overall). Mount Olive is 12-3 overall.

“Ryan’s hard work this summer and extra work this season…is paying off for him,” Wingate head coach Michael Cabana says. “He is healthy and fit. Ryan has stepped up his play for us…clutch is the best word I can find.”

Forbes defeated MOC sophomore Stan Roffe (King’s Lynn, United Kingdom) 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in an epic number five singles match. Cancelado defeated MOC sophomore Edgar Bub (Kehl, Germany) 6-3, 6-1 at the number one singles flight.
